Chungnam National University and Yuseong-gu, Daejeon held the ‘Regional Startup Excellent Technology Competition’ to discover and support the growth of startups with excellent technologies based on Daejeon’s core strategic industries, A·B·C·D (Aerospace, Bio, Chip, Defense).
On May 16, Chungnam National University’s Startup Support Team and Yuseong-gu held the ‘Regional Startup Excellent Technology Competition’ at Tipstown in Daejeon with the participation of about 30 local promising startups and related organizations.
This competition was designed to strengthen the competitiveness and innovation capacity of startups established within 7 years with excellent technologies based on Daejeon’s core strategic industries (Aerospace, Bio, Chip, Defense) and to foster the capacity to attract corporate investment.
In this competition, 10 startup companies selected through the first document evaluation presented their excellent technologies related to Daejeon’s core strategic industries and competed for the excellence and differentiation of their technologies.
As a result, 6 startups including Theien Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Seong-tak), Lumos (CEO Lee Tae-hong), Stellavision Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Seung-cheol), Nexwave Co., Ltd. (CEO Jeon Jin-wan), Ibis Bio Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Dong-seok), and Sungjin SE Co., Ltd. (CEO Hong Jin-pyo) received the Excellent Technology Award, and 4 startups including Innature Co., Ltd. (CEO Han Se-jin), Zeta Mobility Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Hyeon-seok), Viscure Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Seok-ju), and Limobility Enterprise Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Jae-hwan) received the Regional Economic Activation Award.
The awards ceremony for this competition will be held at the Chungnam National University Startup Incubation Center Performance Exchange Meeting scheduled for the end of this year, and Chungnam National University and Yuseong-gu plan to support follow-up commercialization and investment linkage for the startups selected for this competition.
Kim Cheon-gyu, the head of the Startup Support Team, said, “This competition is a meaningful opportunity to discover local startups based on Daejeon’s key strategic industries,” and added, “We will spare no support for the companies that win this time so that they can grow through customized startup support programs.” Meanwhile, Chungnam National University has been playing a hub role in the local innovation startup ecosystem since the inauguration of President Kim Jeong-gyeom, and has been leading the way in sustainable local innovation growth based on organic cooperation between campus specialization and Jisan-hak-yeon.
